Travel Around the Web – Week of March 07, 2010

I’ve been totally swamped with some writing projects, so I haven’t had the chance to read other people’s posts and articles much the last few weeks, but there are a couple that I did and enjoyed very much.  Perhaps you will, too:

  • Popular Mechanics showcases a bunch of the world’s most unusual airports, including some that, frankly, would scare the heck out of me having to land on them. (Found via Gadling)
  • Brian  Williams of NBC Nightly News has a great online blog and recently wrote a touching farewell post to the city of Vancouver following the end of the Winter Olympics.
  • Speaking of the Winter Olympics, with lodging being in such short supply, two guys decided to roll their own place to stay by buying a limo and living in it for the duration. Heck, I’d do it if limos got better gas mileage. LOL
  • But if you haven’t got a limo, Rachel over at Cragbaby discusses various vehicle set-ups for extended road trips, including the one she took for eight months. I’m currently thinking of doing something similar in the fall, so it was cool to see various options.

That’s it for this week, but as usual, if you see a cool travel story online, leave a note in the comments or Twitter me @zengrrl with the link.
